ultimate guide to hotbake.

So, since hotbake sandwiches has been the go to quick bite on busy school days, I have decided to dedicate a food guide specially for it. Love these sandwiches. They're healthy, convenient and delicious! They use wholemeal bread, low fat of everything!

#7 Kebab Chicken Sandwich
Rating: 5/10
One of the not-so-good hotbake sandwiches. Chicken was kind of hard and dry.

#6 New York Sausage Omelette

Rating: 6/10
Chanced upon this new flavour just recently. Quite similar to my favourite hotdog melt taste wise, just with the extra egg. Tomato and light mayo adds great flavour. Why it loses out to hotdog melt: probably because the egg makes the sandwich taste a tad dry.

#5 Mushroom and Chicken Sandwich

Rating: 6.5/10
Ham, mushrooms, light mayo and onions. It's simple, but delicious. Was expecting real chicken though.

#4 Spanish Chicken Sandwich

Rating: 7/10
Chicken, bell peppers and onions between wholemeal bread. There's a nice addictive tomato-ey taste in the chicken though it's a little, tiny but too dry.

#3 Australian Honey Chicken

Rating: 7.5/10
Another recent find. It's quite simple - wholemeal bread, chicken and some cheese. The chicken has a nice saltiness to it probably from the cheese. Thumbs up.

#2 Tropicana Chicken

Rating: 8/10
Another recent find. The chicken is tender and generous and goes together perfectly with the peppers and onions inside the sandwich. There is a kind of sweetness that I particularly love.

#1: Hotdog Melt Sandwich
Rating: 8.5/10
I don't particularly enjoy hotdogs, neither do I specially like cheese. But when these two ingredients are sandwiched in between two slices of soft and fluffy wholemeal bread and drizzled with tomato sauce and light mayo, it tastes like heaven.

ultimate guide to mama patisserie.

Having known about mama patisserie since forever and finally going there for the first time a week ago, I have been going there almost every other day ever since. Their bread is simply so fluffy and soft. The fillings are given so generously and the sweet fillings are not too sweet. All this is because this bakery is not commercialised, unlike its other counterparts like BreadTalk and Four Leaves. I also how they use healthy and best quality ingredients. After eating the bread from this bakery, I vowed not to eat bread from BreadTalk and Four Leaves anymore (okay, maybe once in a while). So here are the breads I tried according to ascending order of preference!

#10: Pumpkin
Rating: 5/10
Many people adore this pumpkin bread but somehow I don't. This comes as a surprise as I consider myself quite a pumpkin lover. There is not a trace of pumpkin taste and the texture of the pumpkin filling is a little too mushy for me. Not my type. But then again, the bread is fluffy like all of their other buns.

#9: Black Sesame Yam
Rating: 5.5/10
The black sesame gives the bun a nice fragrance. The bun is soft and fluffy, but I do not think the yam filling goes very well with the black sesame taste of the bread. Even though I do not really like sweet stuff, the yam paste is a little not sweet enough for me. They also need to be more generous with the yam filling.

#8: Sesame Yam
Rating: 6/10
Same as the black sesame. The reason why this is preferred is due to its cute triangular shape and the extra toasted sesame seeds which add a good crunch and texture to the bun. Still not a fan of the yam paste though.

#9: Chocolate Bowl
Rating: 6/10
Mama's specialty. I like the chewy dough of the bread and how you get tiny bursts of chocolate in every bite. Still not top on my list though.

#8: Green Tea Red Bean Swirl
Rating: 7/10
Warning: Extreme fluffiness and softness of bread may cause a heart attack. A loaf of bread with the perfect balance between the saltiness of bread and sweetness of red bean. Delicious, but nothing can beat my favourite filled buns.

#7: Green Tea Chestnut
Rating: 6.5/10
Literally green tea anpan with chestnuts. Not a fan of chestnuts, so it didn't really appeal to me. Found TWO or THREE pieces of chestnuts inside, how generous. Still lovely though, chestnut-lovers may enjoy it.

#6 Red Bean Walnut
Rating: 7/10
The bun is soft and fluffy. Especially when toasted, when the exterior has a nice crisp texture while the interior remains fluffy and flavourful. The crunch from the walnuts could be felt in every bite and the red bean paste is not too sweet nor too bland - just right. Just feel that the walnut bread doesn't go as well with the red bean paste.

#5 Crunchy black sesame
Rating: 6.5/10
I love black sesame. I love bread. What could go wrong? The filling was a little too heavy and sweet for me though.

#4: Anpan
Rating: 7/10
Bread - soft and pillowy. Red bean paste - perfect texture and sweetness, really generous too. Love how the red bean paste is about to fall off due to its weight. Delightful.

#3 Black sesame anpan
Rating: 7.5/10
Delicious. Surprisingly, the black sesame bun went better with the red bean filling than the walnut bun. Only qualm is the bread to filling ratio. So little filing!

#2: Sweet potato walnut
Rating: 8.5/10
Amazing. Had walnuts in every single bite - the walnuts are so evenly distributed it's just so wonderful! The sweet potato is not too sweet but very sweet potatoey! Delicious and goes really well with the walnuts! The bread is also quite unique, not like the normal sweet kind but a little salty? I don't know but it went well with the sweetness of the sweet potato and tartness of the walnuts. I'm a happy camper.

#1: Green tea anpan
Rating: 9/10
First bun I tried and it was love at first bite. The matcha taste was fragrant and the red bean paste just went so well with it. No words can describe the awesomeness of this bun. Just, urgh.

my blog.

Hi! I am a fifteen-year-old girl from Singapore who loves food. This blog will have recipes, food reviews, food guides and a few random posts that I will post when I feel like.

I like to eat healthy. Being born into a family who always chooses the healthy option in everything - extra virgin olive oil, wholemeal bread, brown rice and so on, I too, have slowly learnt to cultivate the good habit of healthy eating.

When I was young, this was not the case. I used to adore fried and oily food and McDonald's French fries used to be my favourite food. But after putting on so much weight that I was classified under overweight, I made a resolve to change my eating habits to become slimmer, healthier and fitter.

So here I am now, eating healthy most of the time. However, I am a strong believer of moderation and often have small cheat meals here and there. But after I have adopted this was of healthy eating, I have come to like and enjoy it, such that it is no longer a diet, but a lifestyle.

My favourite foods include SUBWAY sandwiches, Jollibean peanut mee chiang kueh, llaollao sanum, real food dumpling noodles, mama patisserie green tea anpan and sweet potato walnut and cashews!

I may not post every single week, but I will try to update my blog as frequently as possible! Thank you and I hope you enjoy reading my blog!

Love, C. xx
